To the door, a-painting

Well, I have gotten an idea.
I really want to paint this truck a nice black or some other dark color, but there is some panels, bed panels, that need to be replaced. Because of this I have decided to keep this in the rat rod category for some time.
Since I'm going with the crunchy rust look I thought I could add some faded and aged door graphics, you know those old hand lettered jobs that slowly faded through to the brush strokes?
So my master plan is to put my "brewery's" logo on the side doors, but get them patina-ed. I did find a good video on YouTube from monkeysign123, where she mentioned mixing whiting in the enamel to make it look chalky and flat, I will try this and provide and update.
In the mean time I will be practicing my lettering and painting technique to apply these graphics, hopefully my beer will steady my hand!

Fiddy-Six Ford F-100

Hallo,

I am making the official first true blog post about my first true hot rod, and she's primed (poorly though). Today I made a deal for a 56 Ford F100 with a 350 Chevy engine and Powerglide transmission. All kinds of goodies under the swing up hood/front end. Since this is my first hot rod, I hope I can document the learning experience of getting her fixed up and shiny. It's gonna be a lot of hours and sweat and blood, but I plan on keeping this truck for a very long time.
Here's one pic for now, more to come of the engine and what not.

Wilkommen bei Hot Rods 'n Brews!

While mixing beer and cars is not a good idea, mixing brews and hot rods is!*
I love hot rods and I love brewing. So much so that I am a mechanical engineering major minoring in biochemical engineering.
I will post pics of cars, my brewing, and my rants about cars right here.
